In Indianapolis, Special Events Volunteers welcome visitors, give directions, and answer questions. Docent Volunteers lead tours sharing how landmarks help create a vibrant, livable city. Behind-the-Scenes Volunteers assist with administrative projects, staff the reception desk, garden at the Morris-Butler House, and much more.
You do not need any special knowledge or experience to become a volunteer. We look for individuals who are reliable, flexible, and comfortable talking with others.
All Indianapolis volunteers attend a one-day Volunteer Orientation. This occurs twice annually, in February and August. To become docents, volunteers must participate in the Docent Training Program, which includes multiple additional sessions.
We accept applications on a rolling basis. To be included in the next volunteer orientation, applications must be submitted by February 1, 2024.
Time commitments are flexible, and you can choose opportunities that fit your schedule. We will work with you to create a volunteer experience that fits your needs and interests.
